FAQ’s – Search Engine Optimization (SEO)

1. Why doesn’t my website rank very well in the search engines like Google?

Having your website rank high in the search engines is a science and the rules for search engine optimization (SEO) are always changing. Here are some reasons why you may be having poor ranking:

  • Incorrect usage of the TITLE tag or no TITLE tag content.
  • Too many occurrences of the same word in a page (spamming).
  • Missing H1 and H2 heading tag content.
  • Missing ALT tag content in your graphic links.
  • No meaningful content in the first 250 characters on each page.
  • Less than 200 words per page.
  • Very few pages on your website.
  • No backlinks from other websites to your website (link popularity).
  • Also, you should always submit your site to any search directories manually. Please do not use automated submission services.

2. How long does it take for SEO results to kick in?

The amount of time required to see results of search engine optimization work range anywhere from 30 days for existing sites in local or niche markets to 24 months for new websites in a competitive of national/global market.

3. What is my website ranking dependent on?

Site ranking tends to be “cumulative” and is dependent on the following factors:

  • The specific keyword phrases (search terms) that have been targeted
  • The overall competitiveness of your industry – how many players are there
  • Whether you are targeting a regional, national, or international market
  • How well ranking is monitored and the site tweaked over time for SEO improvement
  • The progress of your one way relevant link building campaign
  • Number of competitor sites achieving new ranking themselves

4. Does every page of my website really need to be optimized?

In a word – yes. Every page of a website can be a potential entry point for visitors. You can’t predict which page or pages will be ranked the best for specific keywords. As such, each page must be individually optimized to for optimal ranking. Collectively, all pages of your website reinforce the common “theme” of the site, which also can help boost ranking. Don’t assume that your home page is the most important page on your site.

5. Can you guarantee a number #1 position in the search engines?

Nobody can guarantee a number #1 position or specific ranking for your site for a given keyword phrase. There are simply too many factors beyond anyone’s control – the search engines changing their ranking algorithms, efforts made by competitors, and new sites being added to the Web.

Obtaining a specific ranking is analogous to managing a portfolio. Your financial advisor will do their best to monitor the stock market and other indicators and to make sure your portfolio is managed to the best of their abilities. However, your advisor cannot guarantee that your portfolio will be at a specific dollar value or even that the amount will be up at all by a given date.

6. Why are SEO services so expensive?

SEO is a highly-specialized craft requiring much research, forethought, skill and can be extremely time-consuming to implement correctly. However, compared to offline and print advertising, SEO is quite cheap. The cost of having your website SEO optimized is by far the best advertising dollars spent and the return on your investment (ROI) can be very great.

FAQ’s – Pay Per Click Management (PPC)

1. How do you manage Google Ads Quality Score?

The Google Ads Quality Score is based on keyword, ad text and landing page relevance. The key is to have smaller, more targeted ad groups with fewer keywords so we can write more targeted ad text and increase the click-through rates. We also like to have our keywords contained in the landing pages to increase relevancy and conversions.

2. What will be the first step when taking over the account?

A good first strategy is to see if there is anything that needs to be fixed immediately like incorrect settings or an account re-structure. We would plan the re-structure carefully as to not revert any positive Quality Scores or remove any account history.

3. What kind of reporting will I get?

Any ad hoc reports you want. You can request reports at any time but pro actively a monthly report detailing work completed and an analysis of the account statistics.

4. Will I have access to Google Analytics reporting and my Google Ads Account?

Yes, we will set up a Google Analytics account for you if you don’t already have one and provide you admin access to it. We will also setup a Google Ads account under your name and manage it through our agency. You will have full access even if we no longer work together. (Just remember if you hire a PPC firm to manage your Google Ads or Bing account, you can’t go in and make changes on your own. That could mess up any potential strategy the firm has in place.)

5. What is the communication process like?

We respond to emails or calls same day or within 24 hours. We also use an online project software management tool that documents all work completed.

6. How does keyword research work?

We use several free keyword research tools along with in house tools to find any new keywords or variations of existing keywords. Keyword research is an on-going process as new terms come up frequently. We would also use the search query report in Google Adwords to find new keywords and negative keywords to drive only qualified traffic.

7. What kinds of testing will you be doing?

We write and test new ad text on a continual basis. We use different messaging, different calls-to-action and benefits to see what message gets the highest click-through rate possible. We also test different landing pages to ensure highest conversion rates.

8. What is your bidding and budget strategy?

It’s really different for every client. We create settings in the accounts that will show our ads all though out the day. We also pay very close attention to see if we’re hitting our daily budgets. If we are, then we take the approach to either increase the daily budget or decrease our keyword bids gain additional traffic but at a cheaper cost. Our goal is to reduce your cost-per-lead but at the same time increase the number of leads you receive.

9. How can we be sure all potential opportunities for improvement are taken?

Our team is constantly training and learning new PPC campaign management strategies by following the top experts in the field , along with attending live training, webinars and marketing events. Since we are a Google Premier Partner, we also work with Google and Bing account representatives to learn about new strategies and Beta tools not yet available for most standard businesses.
